Privacy notice
Your data, in plain language
Version 2026-10-a. This notice explains what Drive-through Analytics, a service of LaMotheo Solution (Pty) Ltd, does with your files and your personal information.
Who is responsible for what
When you upload a file, you decide what's in it and why it's analysed, so you are the "responsible party" under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) for any personal information inside it. LaMotheo acts as your operator: we process the file only to produce your report, and for nothing else.
For your account details (name, email, phone, payments), LaMotheo is the responsible party.
What we do with your file
- We store it privately under a random name, outside the public website.
- We read it to calculate your report. Nothing in it is ever run as a program.
- We delete the file and the report 7 days after upload, or earlier if you delete them or our storage fills up (we email you if that happens).
- We never sell your data, and we never use it to train anything.
When AI is used
The explanations in a report can be written by an AI service, Anthropic (Claude), which processes data outside South Africa. This only happens if you choose "Explain with AI" when you upload. If you do:
- Only summaries are sent: column names, totals, averages, and short lists of top items. The raw file is never sent.
- Values that look personal (names, emails, phone numbers, ID numbers) are replaced with labels like "Person 1" before anything is sent.
- Every number the AI writes is checked against our own calculations. If it doesn't match, we use our own wording instead.
Choose "Numbers only" and nothing leaves our server. You can't change the choice for a report once it has been made, but you can upload the file again with the other choice.
Our staff
LaMotheo staff can only open your report if you ask for help (for example, in an analyst session) or to fix a problem, and every such look is logged. Staff accounts use two-step sign-in.
Marketing
We only send you news and offers if you ticked the box for it. Every message lets you opt out.
Your rights
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to its use. You can also delete your account under Profile and privacy. If you're unhappy with how we handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
